RECORD BREAKING: 17-Foot-Long Python Captured At Big Cypress National Preserve

A massive 17-foot-long female python was captured at Big Cypress National Preserve, thanks to new efforts at tracking down pythons with radio transmitters.

Trackers use male pythons with transmitters to find out where breeding females are located.

This particular female is the biggest ever found in the park and weighed in at 140 pounds. She also contained 73 developing eggs, meaning that’s 74 less pythons to worry about in the future.

With the invasive python problem being as big of an issue as it has become in Florida, we hope these new methods help put a significant dent in the problem.
