An enormous hog that weighed in at 790 pounds taken alive by a pair of hunters 2105 may provide them both with enough bacon for life.
Blaine Garcia and Wyatt Walton bagged the the incredible catch at a ranch on Jan. 16 in De Leon, Texas.
Garcia started he hunt off by himself and the day was just like any other hunting day, until he saw signs of a massive hog and eventually spotted the King Kong sized boar.
“I did a double take. I couldn’t believe his size, and he took off running down a draw. I tried to walk up and get a better look but he kept running off as I approached,” Garcia said.
Garcia and Walton used their two bulldogs to catch the hog, which is a popular technique for distracting the hog while its quickly tied up.
“When I first saw him, Blaine’s dog looked like an earring or some kind of jewelry hanging off the hog’s head, but it really wasn’t until we got ahold of the hog that I realized how big and powerful this animal was,” Walton said. “We’ve tied hundreds of hogs and there has never been anything like this boar.”
The boar was taken to a cattle corral – after being secured with ratchet straps for transport – and received constant care.
“We may end up doing that (selling the hog) in the future, but for right now, we’re undecided on what we’re going to do,” says Garcia. “It’s something that maybe we’re going to think on for a little bit.”
“Me and Wyatt do this as a hobby, but we also do this as a business.”
That business being Boar Collector Feral Hog Removal. With the amount of feral hogs in Texas, business must be booming.
