It looks like this moose needs a hoof trim after being spotted with sleigh-like hooves while she crossed a road in Anchorage, Alaska. Becki Grady spotted the moose and while she’s seen her fair share of moose in Alaska, this is a first.
“I’ve lived in Alaska my entire life and have never seen a moose like this,” she said.
Although it looks like the moose might be in pain from the condition at first glance, “sleigh hoof” is simply caused by a copper deficiency and causes the hooves to grow abnormally.
“More often than not, the extended hoof will break off on its own and it won’t bother the moose,” said David Battle, a state wildlife biologist.
