Feral hogs are a huge problem in Texas, but at least they aren’t all 416-pound monsters like the one that Joe Clowers of Union Grove killed with an AR-15. He’d been in a fight to kill the hog for the last five years it had been wrecking his property.
“My property lays between some populated areas and I try to maintain an environment like a sanctuary or nursery for the deer to raise fawns,” Clowers said.
The hog had been preying on fawns on Clowers property, which caused Clower to always carry his rifle when checking his feeders.
“He was the big daddy,” Clowers said. “I called him the bush beast.”
His patience finally paid off when he was able to take down the massive hog and add a very impressive trophy to his wall in the process. The final confrontation ended up with Clowers taking down the hog in the pitch black at 20 yards out.
