This deer hunt may have been an even bigger deal for Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive tackle Fletcher Cox than the Super Bowl — but probably not.
It’s not every day that you run into one of the best NFL defensive tackles in the nation while deer hunting, but that’s exactly what happened to one Mississippi man and his deer-tracking dog, Max.
Thomas Garland of Crystal Springs is one of a growing number of dog owners who help other hunters find deer that otherwise might be lost. When a hunter shoots a deer but can’t locate it, he or she can reach out for free help through social media, and a handler will come assist in the recovery.
“I got into it about eight years ago,” Garland said. “I lost a deer when I was in college.”
