There’s nothing like the sinking feeling of having a missing child. The Alcock family experienced every parents nightmare last Tuesday when their son, Eli, vanished from their home.
“Imagining never seeing him again … never hearing him again. Just the reality of what was happening … I mean it was hard,” Lindsay Alcock told KPLC. “That’s when we started freaking out and called the sheriff’s department and got on Facebook and asked people to come and help and look.”
Unable to locate him, the Alcock’s reached out to authorities and the community, enlisting the help of Honey, a local hound dog with a history of tracking, and her owner, local pastor Doug Downs.
Honey had three years experience tracking deer, but none tracking missing persons. Nevertheless, the hero dog finally found Eli safe and sound – although understandably scared – after hours of searching.
“The good Lord was watching over us that night,” said Downs. “He showed up through a four-legged dog.”
