Helicopter pilot Roger Gower killed by elephant poachers in Tanzania while working for a charity trying to bring them to justice. Poachers shot and killed Captain Roger, a helicopter pilot who was on a mission to help Rangers find killers of an elephant at Maswa Game Reserve near Serengeti National Park. Gower, a British national, was shot in midair by poachers with an AK47. He managed to fly the helicopter down into a tree, heroically allowing his colleague and friend to jump, but he died before his rescue teams arrived.
“Those poachers who killed Capt Roger are coward, evil, and sad people. A fine hearted individual gone too soon, and our hearts are broken. Everything must done to bring them to justice.” Lazaro Nyalandu, MP for for Singida North Constituency in Tanzania
