It’d be easy to assume some terrifying or malicious explanation for how this elk got pinned to a tree in a seemingly sacrificial position, but it was simply a mixture of nature and being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
It appears the elk got caught up in an avalanche and ended up either dead or dying and pinned right to a tree.
