A Florida man plead guilty on June 7, 2016, in Ontario court in Kenora for duck hunting at night and was subsequently fined $3,000 and will be unable to obtain a migratory bird hunting licence for one year.
Kenora District conservation officers approached the man on Lake of the Woods after noticing that he was shining a spotlight at the shore of an island from his boat, according to CBC News.
When officers approached his boat, they discovered two recently killed ducks and a 12-gauge shotgun.
The man was fined $1,500 for hunting at night under the Migratory Birds Convention Act and another $1,500 for having a loaded gun in a motor boat under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.
