Francie Lubbe was camping with a friend in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in Botswana when she woke up to these lionesses licking water off her tent in the morning. Lubbe posted the video on Facebook and said it was taken in the Khiding campsite, an area in the preserve that is famous for frequent visits from lions.
Run ins with lions are certainly a risk you take when camping in a big game reserve like this, but a one in a lifetime experience like this makes it worth it. She says they remained very still and refrained from panicking when she woke up to the lionesses.
“We tried to be very quiet not to disturb them,” Lubbe wrote in the comments. “It was very special.”
