Dramatic Helicopter Rescue Morphs Into ‘Insane Ride’ at Ski Resort

A video has been released showing the dramatic moment a group of skiers and snowboarders were rescued via helicopter after becoming stranded on a gondola at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Canada.

Around 75 people were stuck on the gondolas after a transformer blew at the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in British Columbia on January 3rd.

The footage filmed by stranded guest Kody Lapointe with a GoPro camera, shows rescue services airlifting the victims from the gondola, allowing them to capture the stunning snowy mountain scenery as they are winched to safety.

In a statement on Facebook the resort said:

Further to an electrical issue, the Golden Eagle Express Gondola was manually evacuated yesterday evening. With everyone safe, warm and fed, we apologize to each of you involved for the inconvenience. We are thankful that everyone is safe and credit to the talented team of professionals; Kicking Horse Mountain Resort teams, Golden and District Search and Rescue and Canadian Ski Patrol.
