When Jeff Watson heard about two grizzly bear cubs that needed a place to live after a tourist attraction in Georgia closed down, he didn’t do what we imagine most people would do — he took them.
Since then, Jeff has been raising Bob and Screech and training the now seven-year-old bears. He’s very aware they aren’t an animal that can be tamed, simply trained.
Although his original intention was to have the bears for himself, he quickly realized he needed to create some way to make money through the bears if he hoped to keep them fed.
Now Jeff and his bears offer educational presentations in an effort to teach people about brown bears. His hope is that knowing more about them will protect both bears and people when they come across one another in the wild.
