Spotting wild animals in their natural habitat can be one of the coolest experiences during a hike. Assuming you’re at a safe distance and don’t attempt to do anything dumb, encounters with wild animals shouldn’t pose too much of a threat.
We’d recommend taking this interaction and using it as an example of exactly what not to do.
After spotting a cougar ahead of them on the trail, two guys decide to follow after it when it walks away. This would’ve been a great time to turn around and leave, but they didn’t take the opportunity.
