If there’s an extreme sports version of fishing, noodling would have to be it. There’s no rod or reel, just you using your arm to yank a massive fish out of the water. A group of Army vets recently had the opportunity to try it for the first time.
COMANCHE COUNTY, OK (KSWO) – For many soldiers, going off to war is the scariest thing they’ve ever experienced. For a couple of army veterans, they conquered a new fear right here in SW Oklahoma. Anchor Makenzie Burk and members of the Wounded Veterans of Oklahoma went noodling for the first time with 2 guides, and she tells us all about their trip.
There’s no rod n reel for this fishing trip, it’s called noodling, or hand-fishing.
“Noodling or hand fishing is the art of going under water, sticking your hand in a hole where a catfish nest and grabbing them by the mouth and pulling them out of the hole and throwing them on the bank,” says Jesse Dalton of Dalton Gang Outdoors.
