Two Florida men, who were under investigation by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission after they posted a video of themselves with a gator while on a beer run, have been arrested.
The man in the video, Robert Timothy Barr, 28, also known as Robby Stratton, can be heard saying, “Y’all got beer still? Y’all ain’t out, are y’all?” as he walks into the store with an alligator that has its mouth taped shut.
Kevin Scott Keenem, 23, was also arrested. They were both charged with illegal possession of an American alligator, illegal exhibition of dangerous wildlife and cruelty to animals.
Barr claims he didn’t even remember going into the store until he saw the video.
“This store sells some good liquor and I drank a lot of it that night,” Barr said. “I don’t even remember coming up here.”
It didn’t take a genius to figure out he was in trouble once the FWC contacted him.
“They told me what I did was stupid and that I would be facing some charges. Probably go to jail, probably not. We’ll see,” he said.
There are still others who haven’t been tracked down who are connected to the incident.
“FWC officers are still attempting to identify other individuals shown in the video of this incident,” FWC spokesperson Karen Parker told WJAX. “If the public has information about additional subjects on the video, they are encouraged to contact the FWC’s Wildlife Alert hotline at 888-404-3922.”
