We can imagine sheriff’s offices across the country get some calls so bizarre that no one in their right mind would believe them without hard evidence.
The Placer County sheriff’s office in California received just that kind of call when a deputy reported to the scene of a bear trapped inside a Subaru Outback. There are a number of ways freeing the bear could go completely wrong, but in the end, the deputy decides smashing the window in and running to safety is his best bet.
As angry as that bear sounds, we’d say Deputy Lade made the best choice in the face of a bizarre incident.
