Even when an expert snake handler does everything right, things can still go wrong as we see here.
Herpetologist George Van Horn was extracting the venom from an Eastern rattlesnake at Reptile World Serpentarium in St. Cloud, Fl, when the snake managed to maneuver its fang and bite him. It happens so fast it takes a few seconds to register what exactly happened, but Van Horn quickly cuts the extraction short.
Despite holding the snake at the base of its head, it still manages to sink its fang into his finger. This just shows it’s impossible to be too careful when handling poisonous animals.
Luckily, Van Horn was taken to a nearby hospital and was okay after the incident.
