Monster 83-Pound Atlantic Cod Potentially Sets IGFA World Record

From the IGFA: While fishing off Soroya, Norway on March 13th with guide Johann Mikkelsen, angler Marica Eriksson potentially broke the women’s 37 kg (80 lb) line class world record for Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) with this massive 38 kg (83 lb 11 oz) specimen. Eriksson battled the huge cod for several minutes after it crushed the jig she was fishing. If approved, the catch will not only replace the current record of 37.08 kg (81 lb 12 oz), but it will also be the third heaviest on record with the IGFA.
