Judge Reels in $291 Million Lotto Win on Fishing Vacation, Brother Wins $7

Two fishermen were finishing a monthlong fishing vacation in the Florida Keys, the Florida Lottery said, when they decided to make a stop. James Stocklas, and his brother, Bob, bought lottery tickets on the way home from the beach. James Stocklas, 67, won the $291 million Powerball while his brother won a whopping $7.

After Wednesday’s lotto drawing, the judge had returned to work. While sitting at the restaurant where he eats breakfast every day, he checked the numbers on his phone and realized he’d won. To celebrate, he bought breakfast for everyone in the restaurant, and called his family to say, “We are going back to Florida!” He immediately chartered a private jet flying back to Florida with his two friends to share the winnings – and we assume, fish some more!

The Florida lottery made the greatest photo move in lottery history by printing Bob Stocklas a full-size winner’s check – for his $7.00 winning.

James Stocklas chose the lump sum payment of $191 million, the Florida Lottery said. There’s no word on how many fish they actually caught, or whether he’ll bring his brother back to Florida with him. But, the ultimate lesson here is that it pays to be a fisherman!
