Drivers Attempt to Pull Ice Shanty On Frozen Lake Ends Badly

This is a perfect example of the importance of staying informed of your surroundings and local weather conditions.

A Wisconsin man was hauling an ice shanty from one spot of Lake Michigan to another when something went terribly wrong and the ice broke underneath him. By the time he knew what was happening, it was way too late. Luckily for him he managed to get out and not be pulled down with his vehicle – the truck was gone less than a minute after hitting the water.

A friend of the driver apparently told him the ice was okay to drive on. His friend was also driving a snowmobile. Big difference in weight there. This driver should’ve taken the time to find out the conditions for himself, then he wouldn’t have an Escalade and a fish shanty at the bottom of Lake Michigan.
