Man Sent to Jail After Illegally Poaching Mule Deer and Displaying at Hunting Show

Of all the dumb things someone can do, illegally killing an animal and then displaying said animal at a hunting expo ranks pretty high on the list.

A man who poached a mule deer out of season will face jail time and pay thousand of dollars in fines after killing a mule deer out of season, mounting it and displaying in front of thousands.

Nathan Strong killed the deer a year ago and took it to the 2016 Hunting Expo in Salt Lake City, Utah. Unfortunately for Strong, several hunters recognized the deer because they had photographed it after hunting season. Since only a year had passed it was obvious he had killed the deer illegally.

Strong was reported to law enforcement, which lead to a short investigation before concluding Strong shot the deer out of season using a whitetail deer tag.

Strong now faces a combined $19,000 in fines, 10 days in jail and 1 year probation. He will also be unable to legally hunt or fish for seven years.
