27-Year-Old is the First Woman to Visit Every Country on Earth

There are a lot of people who grow up and never visit another country or even leave their home state in some cases. Cassie De Pecol isn’t like most people.

This Connecticut girl just became the first woman ever to visit all 196 countries on earth – a journey she dubbed ‘Expedition 196’. As if that wasn’t enough, in doing so, the 27-year-old also became fastest person to visit every country, making the entire voyage in 18 months and 26 days.

She has the documentation and the Guinness World Record to prove it too.

Seeing as their are some people who live out their entire lives without ever leaving where they were born, it’s insane she completed this at an age where most people today are still trying to figure out what they want to do with their lives.

The expedition wasn’t cheap by any means (it cost nearly $200,000) but was partially funded thanks to sponsors.

“I personally love finding new, inspiring things, places, culture, environments in countries around the world that are in need of tourism,” says De Pecol.

De Pecol didn’t just take this trip to make history or to see the sights, she took on this exploration to promote peace though sustainable tourism. She did this by serving as an ambassador for the International Institute of Peace Through Tourism and even collected water samples for Adventures and Scientists for Conservation.

In a society where millennial’s get a bad wrap for being selfish and lazy, it’s awesome to see someone completing such an impressive goal.
